Background
The Lodge itself was purpose built in 1908 for shooting entertainment days by Edward Carr, a wealthy local lawyer for his clients and guests. Now almost a century later it is still used for this Victorian tradition, now one of the most popular ways of entertaining business associates, friends and family.
The Lodge is now a family business run by Michael Meggison, a member of the British Olympic shooting team in 1980 & 1984 and son Aaron, himself having great success on the British team and Commonwealth championships since the age of 13.
Primarily a professional shooting school, open 6 days a week, with the objective of simulating game birds in exactly the correct environment. The grounds lend themselves perfectly with grouse moors, lakes and woodlands to give an extremely relaxing setting for an enjoyable days shooting.
The armoury holds a varied selection of shooting accessories and sporting shotguns which guests may try. Including all the old and new innovations that have graced the sport for centuries.
Lessons
Here at Kelbrook we teach people from complete beginners to experienced shooters on the Great Britain Team. There is no minimum age (smaller gauge guns available) all we ask is that you can hold the gun by yourself (weighs approx 5.5-8lbs).
I personally started shooting at the age of 8 and my eldest customer recently celebrated his 90th birthday, so age really is of no concern.
